A safe place, a bed and clean sheets.

imageA safe place, a bed, and clean sheets with a pillow to rest our head.

For most – we take this for granted.

Interestingly, on Sunday I sorted and cleaned my linen cupboard after many years. Needless to say, I ended up with a
bag in my car boot of sheets and towels to giveaway.

The very next day, yesterday, I was again working with linen but with a different objective.

I spent a significant part of my day working with colleagues to make sure ageing people with dementia, and others with a disability and complex behaviours, who were unfortunately displaced from their homes because of local bush fires – had a safe place to stay, with a bed and clean linen to lay their head for a good night’s rest.

They weren’t ideal situations, people and programs were inconvenienced – but so important.

A safe place, a bed and clean sheets – I hope they slept well and I hope I don’t take my situation for granted.
